Mendip Gliding Club is based at Halesland Airfield in the stunning Somerset Mendip Hills. We are an all volunteer club, and welcome new members and the curious alike.
From just £65 a Gliding Experience can be a perfect present or the start of your journey to another world.
The club operates Thursdays, the Weekend and most public holidays from 8:30am to 30 minutes before sunset and we fly at every opportunity the weather gives us. The varied terrain of our location gives you a thrilling and dynamic flying experience every time you take to the sky.

At Mendip Gliding Club it isn’t just about flying, we run a fully operational airfield and workshops a few days a week and every weekend and most bank holidays. There are many non-flying roles that club members undertake when they’re not in the air.
This can be a great way for those who have an interest in aviation but do not wish to commit to learning to fly yet, allowing you to see what’s involved and learn a few new skills along the way. Ground based roles include Launch Control, Winching, Retrieve Driving, Wing Runners and Aircraft Maintenance.
